Drive Back in Time Beechworth 2012
(End of Season Cruise)
Let's Go Cruisin hosted it's 'End of season' Cruise to Beechworth in the NE of Victoria. This historic town was playing host to the local 'Old Cranks Motor Club's' annual Drive Back in Time event. This low key event usually attracts around 100 cars of all makes and eras, but also has a large display of stationary engines along with other activities organized by the Old Crank's.
Fifteen cruisers departed from the new Service Centre on Eastlink on Saturday morning, collecting a couple more along the way as the convoy cruised through Lilydale, Yea, Seymour then back onto the Hume Hwy. A couple of entrants had some mechanical issues so while they were being helped by some LGC's members. the remaining cruisers continued on arriving in Beechworth around 12:30. Fortunately the breakdowns were rectified and the remaning cruisers arrived shortly after.
The weather was fine and sunny for the whole weekend which made the stay in Beechworth very enjoyable. Beechworth has some great history and it's very well preserved by the locals. It also has many cafes, hotels and restaurants to enjoy as well as it's famous Bakery. Some street cruising was organized by the Old Cranks after dark and after a few laps of the town we adjoined for dinner at one of the local hotels.
Up early next morning to park in the closed off main street where the show & shine grew to nearly 200 cars by late morning. It seemed like LGC's cruise entrants carried off about half of the trophies on offer as well as one of the hampers from the days raffle.
From the feedback received from those who came along, we may have to consider hosting this cruise to Beechworth's Drive Back in Time again.
