Cruisin the Coolstores December 2008
There's no doubt about Santa Claus's crowd pulling ability! He's still got it!
Double everything when the big guy in the red suit & white beard turns up. Numbers of people, kids, entrant's cars, spectators, prizes, roast beef rolls eaten, and fun!! Even Shannons bought along their 'Super Rig' to help make this our biggest event ever.
With a shade under 400 entrant's cars cruisin' in, for first time ever we were forced to park entrant's way out in a back paddock.
We had family entertainers, Mushroom entertaining the kids and our new outside caterers Hot Rods Roasts were at full throttle keeping the food queue as short as possible. The local Lions Clubs were busy cooking snags and helping park cars in both the Coolstore and across the road, along with the Variety Club dealing out ice cold soft drinks. Thanks guys.
In the middle of the mayhem when Santa arrived, we did manage to select another worthy winner of Best Presented Award. There was plenty of competition but we finally gave the nod to Clint Robinson who had bought his family along in their immaculate Lime Green'64 Chevrolet P/Up. Congratulations to the Robinsons.
We enjoyed bringing you another Santa Cruz, but the real bonus is when people supported the fund raising Xmas Tree Raffle resulting in LGC members Ron Mills & Cheryl Hutson being able to present a cheque of $1000 to Wendy, representing the Friends of Ronald McDonald House. This will help fund their upcoming Christmas function for the children & families whose lives have been impacted by serious illness.
Santa Cruz can only happen because the Let's Go Cruisin' members work tirelessly before and on the night. Thanks to you all. Special mention must go to Cheryl and Graeme Hutson who put many hours into bringing Santa Cruz to life with work that really started straight after last year's. Thanks also to Leanne Hutson for producing another great tree. Thanks also to Santa's helpers. The best looking elves around!
You also need support from many organizations and individuals to host something like Santa Cruz and we received some great contributions. Our thanks to 'Fletch' from Polytek Mouldings, Leisa Freeman, Phil from Mornington's Motor Court, Kevin & Sally Scagliotti, Peninsula Honey, and of course, the ongoing support from the Peninsula Lounge, Shannons, Holden Genuine Parts, the Bow-Tie Garage, Sabe's Hobby House, Preston Motors [Parts Sales] & Turtle Wax.
Another Santa Cruz has come and gone.
We'd like to thank all those people who have supported our events this year, especially the many that have signed up to become Cruisers. We are encouraged by your support for what we try to do.
If you were there, here's some photos from Graeme & Ian to keep the memories alive. If you weren't, the photos should have you wishing you were.
We wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.
