Cruise Night - March 2018
Was it the great weather? Or was it the $4000 in prizes on offer to all the LGC Cruiser subscribers? Whatever it was, it motivated 1000+ chrome bumper enthusiasts in 300+ cars to cruise to the March Cruise Night. The Rotary Club were busy keeping the snags up to the crowd and the Sober Mule had a steady trade going all night.
Long time LGC sponsors Shannons Insurance were available to advise owners about their insurance products and Al the Hose Wizard displayed his mobile workshop. Remember Al can come to your house or business and does pretty much anything to do with hoses and pipes on any vehicle.
It was soon raffle draw time as the crowd built around the café’s forecourt. First up we found 3 winners of the night’s gate raffle, goody bags filled with ACDelco & Meguiar’s great products.
Then it was over to the LGC Cruiser draw, or it would have been if we didn’t blow a fuse and lost power. Some quick scrambling had us back on the air and the draw commenced. We invited the Shannons representative to be the independent drawer of names. Prizes on offer to all financial Cruiser subscribers included:
- $1000 voucher from Hoppers Stoppers
- $500 in cash provided by The Frankston Engine Centre
- $500 in cash provided by Creative Custom Cars in Dromana
- A Masport BBQ valued at $800 provided by Harvey Norman Springvale Store
- A Hisense Bar Fridge valued at $300 provided by Harvey Norman Springvale Store
- A Media Blasting voucher valued at $720 provide by EnviroBlast
- A Chassis Dyno Tune valued at $300 provided by Chev’s Performance Centre Carrum Downs
Total value of $4120. Perhaps the advantage of being present at the draw providing winners with a priority prize pick over any winner not present helps explain the large crowd of expectant Cruisers.
The first three names drawn were not present so as the draw progressed all prizes were still available. When Rex and Ben’s names were the next two drawn, the two envelopes containing the cash left the prize table in a flash. What’s the attraction with cash? Another Cruiser present was Bryan who grabbed the BBQ commenting that his son was getting the ‘some assembly required’ job. We contacted other winners by phone and soon had Mark choosing the Hoppers Stoppers prize. He was very happy as his HQ Holden project will get now some decent brakes. Frank grabbed the Hisense fridge loading it into his Studebaker pick up, Sylvia opted for the EnviroBlast prize and Steve, who was happy to win anything now has the Dyno Tune waiting for him.
We’d like to again thank the sponsors of the night’s major prize pool for allowing us to host this special cruise night. What a great night and it all happens on a Tuesday over a few hours after work. Amazing. Thanks to everyone that came along to help make it a really enjoyable experience.
Is hanging out with people passionate about old cars great pastime or what?
